COAC Mixed Doubles League
Rules:
1. USTA league rules will apply to matches.
2. Matches will start after July 4th holiday weekend. Matches will end before Phoenix league starts mid October.
3. Matches will be on Fridays 5:00 PM and Saturdays at 11:00 AM. USTA leagues will have priority for courts. We will have to use clay or hard as needed depending on USTA leagues.
4. Format is best of 3 sets. Coman tiebreaker (7 point) will be used if a set is tied at 6-6. If there are time constraints, or a player has to leave soon, a 10 point tiebreaker can be used for the 3rd set.
5. Each match can have 1-6 lines. There will be no defaults. If 2 lines are played, lines 3-6 will be recorded as Double Defaults.
6. The two team captains involved in the match will submit lineups to the commish/captains group email by Tuesday 12:00 PM, for the Friday-Saturday match.
7. The following rating matchups are allowed: 9.0 vs. 9.0, 8.5 vs. 8.5, 8.0 vs. 8.0, 7.5 vs. 7.5, 7.0 vs. 7.0, 6.5 vs. 6.5, 9.0 vs. 8.5, 8.5 vs. 8.0, 8.0 vs. 7.5, 7.5 vs. 7.0 & 7.0 vs. 6.5.
8. Commish will decide on the match lineups and court assignments by Wednesday 12:00 PM, and inform both team captains.
9. Playoffs: Regular season 2nd & 3rd place teams will play in semis. Winner will play the regular season 1st place team in finals.
10. Triad: A triad involving all 3 teams together on same day may be used in midseason, or even for the finals instead of semis/finals.
11. Home team will provide new cans of balls. Both teams should get their own snacks, drinks or beer.
12. Non-members: Members family or friends who are not members of the club are permitted to play in the league, as long as they enter the club abiding by the club's guest policy. (i.e. sign in and pay guest fees if needed).
13. If a match has an even number of lines and both teams win the same number of lines, the match will be recorded as a tie.
14. There should be at least 2 lines played for a match to count. Otherwise, the match will be recorded as a tie. Once the unplayed line is completed, the match can be re-recorded correctly.
15. A player may play 2 lines in a match (Friday & Saturday) if a player is needed to fill a line on either friday/saturday, and there is no one else available on both days.
16. Last minute cancellations for any reason (sickness, injury, family or work) will still not result in a default. Captain should try to find a last minute sub while maintaining a 0.0-0.5 NTRP differential for the 2 pairs. If a sub cannot be found, or is found from another team, then that line will not be recorded.
17. Excess lines: For a match between teams A & B, if team B has more line(s) available than team A, then the excess line(s) of team B can be paired against team C under the following conditions:
a) If 2 or more excess lines are played between teams B & C, then a new schedule will be added, and the results will be recorded as a new match between B & C.
b) If 1 excess line is played between teams B & C, then the line result will be added to an upcoming match between B & C. The excess line result cannot be added to an already completed match between B & C. If there is no upcoming match between B & C, then the excess line result will not be recorded.
